An elderly man died in a fire at a flat, the fire service has said.
The fire broke out in the ground-floor premises at Manor Court sheltered accommodation for the elderly in Acocks Green, Birmingham, on Sunday.
Police and the fire service are investigating but the incident is not thought to be suspicious.
A spokeswoman for West Midlands Fire Service said: “It was a flat fire involving 10 per cent of the living area. We had three pumps in attendance.”
A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: “When ambulance crews arrived they found a flat which had been on fire.
“Firefighters in attendance had put out the blaze and found a man inside the flat.
“Sadly there was nothing that could be done to save the man and he was confirmed dead at the scene.”
A West Midlands Police spokeswoman said: “Police are investigating. It is not thought to be suspicious."
