Birmingham’s drinking and dining scene was given a splash of Catalan and Copenhagen character last week as Bar Opus opened its doors to the public.
Situated at the foot of Colmore Row’s iconic One Snowhill building, the stylish city bar is the latest venture from the team behind Opus at Cornwall Street and Café Opus at Ikon and provides a blend of European culture with the perfect spot for a post-work refreshment.
Open from 7am, a range of breakfast, lunch and ‘after five’ dishes will be available for those seeking a bite to eat, whilst the Opus team have commissioned an eponymous beer to be served – a 4.2 per cent ABV Bavarian lager made by German brewers Kaltenburg – and will stock a range of premium spirits which includes local gin Langley’s No8.
Ann Tonks, director at Bar Opus, said: “As a group, we’ve spent a lot of time on the continent and always felt there was a gap for something that infused the best elements of Europe in Birmingham. Bar Opus was the result of a real lightbulb moment that we had on the way to a business meeting; as we came down the stairs opposite, it just clicked and we knew we had to be a part of it.”
