Ofcom has launched an investigation into a 'mock burglary' staged by a Birmingham radio DJ last month.

The media watchdog received two complaints after listeners to Kerrang 105.2 FM apparently heard DJ Tim Shaw break into his boss's Sutton Coldfield home.

The presenter was suspended from the station by head of programming, Andrew Jeffries, whose home was vandalised in the on-air stunt on February 10.

Shaw returned to his Sunday night slot at the weekend.

On Monday, the station's managing director Adrian Serle refused to comment on claims that the break-in was in bad taste, after DJ Tushar Makwana's murder.

The Heart FM presenter died after confronting burglars on February 9 2004 outside his Castle Bromwich home.
