Garry O’Connor is confident he can deliver goal-power in the Premier League after becoming Birmingham’s third signing of the summer.

O’Connor has signed a three year contract with the option for a further two years in a #2.7 million switch from Lokomotiv Moscow.

The Scotland international believes he has improved as a player during his 15 months in Russia. And he insists he is just as comfortable operating in a lone striking role or as part of a strike partnership.

He told www.bcfc.com: "I can’t wait for the opportunity to play in the Premier League and it’s something that I’m determined to grab with both hands.

"I am confident in my ability and, given the chances, I am sure that I can score goals in the Premier League.

"I can play either role. I am used to playing as a lone striker as well as in a partnership. Whatever position the manager wants me to fill, then I am happy to do that.

"I think I have improved technically as a player during the last 18 months playing in Russia. I enjoyed my time at Lokomotiv Moscow. It’s a good standard of football in Russia and overall it was a good experience. I finished the season in good form and I wouldn’t mind if the season started tomorrow!

"It’s only about six weeks now to the start of the season and hopefully I can prove that I am worthy of a place in the side to face Chelsea on the opening day and we can get a result down there."
