Nuneaton 14 Bradford and B 17

Nuneaton, unbeaten in their first 16 league games, lost for a second week running in their topof-the-table battle with Bradford & Bingley, slipping to third place below Blaydon, although still with a game in hand.

A vicious cross-wind meant most of the play was on one side of the field. There was little or nothing between the teams in any aspect of the game though Nuns led twice.

They led in the first minute when they forced a penalty in the corner and big centre Jody Peacock took an opportunist quick tap to dart over for an unconverted try.

That lead lasted until the seventh minute of the second half when visitors' lock Stephanus Jakobsz stood out in the centre and burst over from an overlap after the ball was spun from forward attacking phases. Tom Rhodes converted.

Former British Lion Tim Stimpson kicked two penalties to put Nuns back in front but weak home tackling allowed scrum-half Joseph Heta in for a try from the base of a maul, Rhodes again converting.

Stimpson's third penalty goal brought Nuns level and knock-ons cost them two clear chances before fly-half Rhodes used line-out possession to drop the neat winning goal six minutes from time. ..SUPL:
