Birmingham Airport has said there will be no public viewing point when The Pope leaves Britain following this weekend's Papal visit.

Passengers using the airport this Sunday were also advised to allow more time for their journeys as local roads may be affected by the Pope's departure.

John Morris, the airport's Head of Industry and Government Affairs, said: "To avoid disappointment, we strongly advise people wishing to see The Pope not to come to the airport as the departure event will take place in a restricted zone, away from all public areas.

"Due to the impact this visit may have on local roads, we also encourage anyone travelling from Birmingham Airport in the afternoon of Sunday 19th September to leave more time for their journey and to expect to see a more visible police presence on site."
