Bosses at Good Hope Hospital have unveiled controversial plans to tear down a social club and replace it with car parking spaces.

The hospital intends to replace the members' club with 50 extra spaces. Sources at the club say they have been given just six weeks notice by the hospital for a scheme that will affect hundreds of customers, hospital staff, club employees and residents.

The club employs four full-time staff and a number of part-timers. Good Hope received planning permission to build a new multi-deck car park earlier this year, but that scheme has been ditched because it is not affordable.
