Midlands television personality Gary Newbon is lining up alongside Nobby the Circumciser for his film debut, which is being filmed in Birmingham this weekend.

ITV sports presenter Newbon is starring in a locally-based gangster flick called Strapped for Cash.

He plays Big Ted the loan shark, who is backed up by two henchmen, known as the Trueman Twins.

Strapped for Cash is the second short film by Birmingham director David King, who was formally a cameraman for ITV and Central.

The film is a criminal love story about a couple who are on the run from Birmingham gangsters who they owe money to.

It is being filmed at city centre lap dancing clubs Legs 11 and The Rocket Club this weekend.
