An 11-year-old schoolboy who received severe injuries in a mysterious fire has been transferred from a specialist paediatric burns unit to a children's ward.

John Baldwin was admitted to Swansea's Morriston Hospital after suffering critical injuries in Worcester on August 10.

Detectives are attempting to establish whether John was set on fire deliberately or was the victim of an accident.

The youngster was found near a canal bridge in Bilford Road, Worcester, shortly after 6pm on August 10.

Detective Sergeant Andy Price, who is still appealing for witnesses, said they did not know when officers would be able to interview John.

Mr Price added: "No matter how insignificant someone might believe their information to be, we still want to hear from them."

Police can be contacted on 08457 444 888, quoting incident number 181C/100805.
