A 22-year-old West Midlands man was thrown more than 10ft from his car following a collision with a taxi.

The man was taken to hospital after the crash on Newbury Lane, Oldbury, on Monday.

The crash site was just after a corner and both vehicles were badly damaged, a West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said.

The man was found unconscious in a driveway some 10 to 15ft from his vehicle.

Ambulance staff treated him for head and chest injuries before he was taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital.

He is conscious and his injuries are not thought to be life-threatening, the spokesman said.

The driver of the taxi, which was not carrying any passengers, was treated for back pain and shock. He was taken to Sandwell Hospital for further assessment.
