Clinton Morrison, the Birmingham City manager, has rejected a return to Crystal Palace as part of a possible swap deal involving Andrew Johnson.
Morrison's agent will hold talks with Blues manager Steve Bruce in the next few days over the future of the Republic Of Ireland international.
The 26-year-old has struggled to earn a place in City's starting line-up during the second half of the campaign after the arrival on loan of Walter Pandiani.
Morrison is likely to slip further down the pecking order with Bruce targeting the likes of Mikael Forssell and Johnson.
But Morrison is adamant he will not return to Selhurst Park, where he scored 71 goals in four seasons for the Eagles before moving to Birmingham in the summer of 2002.
Morrison said: "I've seen all this stuff about AJ (Johnson) and Palace and, what the strength of it is, I don't know. But there would be no way I would go back to somewhere I left to further my career in the first place."
