Mark Lewis Francis produced a disappointing run in Tuesday night's meeting in Huelva.
The Darlaston-born sprinter won his 100 metres heat in Spain before trailing in third in the final in a relatively sluggish time of 10.45 seconds behind winner Francis Obikwelu and Uchenna Emedolu.
Unfortunately he was not the only Birchfield Harrier to underperform with high jumper Germaine Mason finishing eighth with a sub-par height of 2.19m, nine centimetres below his season's best.
Nathan Morgan would also have been unhappy with the 7.93m he covered in coming second in the long jump behind James Beckford. He did, however, fare better than rival Chris Tomlinson who was fifth with a distance of 7.74m.
The most notable British performance of the night came from Nick McCormick who only finished 16th in the 5,000m but ran quicky enough to attain the qualifying standard for this summer's European Championship.
