Birmingham pub and restaurant firm Mitchells & Butlers is believed to be close to selling off the Hollywood Bowl chain of 10-pin bowling alleys.
M&B, which employs some 16,000 people at a number of different branded chains across the UK, has been looking to sell off some of its non-core brands to focus on pubs selling food.
It is thought the Hollywood Bowl sale could raise as much as £40 million for the Fleet Street firm.
M&B operates about 2,000 outlets, trading under brands like Harvester, Toby Carvery and All Bar One. Earlier this year it announced a plan to sell off about 300 of its pubs.
According to reports in the Sunday Times, M&B has been holding talks about Hollywood Bowl with a number of potential buyers. The AMF Bowling company is believed to be a front-runner to buy the chain.
There are 24 Hollywood Bowl outlets across the UK.
