Police are today urgently trying to trace a 14-year-old girl who was befriended by a 40-year-old man through an internet chatroom.
Lisa Jayne Thorne vanished from her home in Dordon, Warwickshire, at 7.30pm last night after an argument.
Detectives are appealing for help to find the teenager who may have travelled to Cumbria.
A spokeswoman for Warwickshire Police said officers were keeping an open mind on her whereabouts and investigating all possibilities including that she may be with friends in the Midlands.
Lisa is described as 5ft 8ins with blonde shoulder-length hair and slim build.
She was last seen wearing combat-style jeans covered in pockets and a white polo shirt with a green line across the chest and green patches on the shoulders.
She has two very small scars on her forehead from chicken pox.
The man Lisa met on the web is being questioned by police.
