The European Union is to inject tens of millions of pounds into the West Midlands economy to help former MG Rover workers find new work.

The money will be taken from an EU grant of £605 million, which has been allocated to the region.

It follows emergency talks between EU officials and the British government on the likely effects of MG Rover's collapse.

A spokeswoman for the European Commission said up to £68 million, would be reallocated to help the workforce.
