The West Midlands has been put on a severe weather warning for tonight, with predictions of up to 25cm of snowfall.

The Met Office website announced this afternoon that it was expecting "persistent" outbreaks of snow through the night, with the heaviest snow expected to fall between 3am and noon on Wednesday.

A statement on the website read: "Many places will see fresh accumulations of 10cm, with up to 25cm of new snow possible in the worst affected locations. "

It advised the public to take extra care in the extreme weather.
