There was good news for Worcestershire yesterday after it emerged that Australian legend Glenn McGrath was considering returning to county cricket and a second spell at New Road.
McGrath spent a successful campaign with the Pears in 2000 and also had a brief spell with Middlesex last season. He said: "I think my wife has locked me in to play a couple of years at the end of my career.
"I've played for two counties and I don't really want to make it three. I would say that Worcestershire are probably still top of my list."
McGrath showed that his powers are still at their height as he claimed his 500th Test wicket during the first Test match against England at Lord's.
Worcestershire play host to Australia in a three-day match starting on Saturday ahead of the second Test at Edgbaston and chief executive Mark Newton said: "I'm sure at some stage during next week's game at Worcester we will be able to have a conversation. I'm sure everyone would be delighted if he came back here in the near future."
