Dear sir, A letter from Tim Offer (Post, August 12) was timely and accurate.
My neighbour was in the city last Saturday and he saw Asian youths with scarves covering their faces. I also saw them in national and local newspapers.
I have always believed it was against the law for a demonstrator to cover his or her face.
On the many demonstrations I have attended the marshalls have warned the people involved not to hide their faces. Those who did were pulled from the march by the police and ordered to remove their scarf or mask and were arrested if they refused.
I am currently on crutches and could not attend the demonstration. Whether the organisers of Unite Against Fascism knew it or not there were hooligans both white and Asian within their ranks.
They are political illiterates who were there for the “fun”. Asian fascists are no less repulsive than their white counterparts.
