A murder victim whose body was found at his flat in Shrewsbury had suffered severe head injuries, police have confirmed.

West Mercia Constabulary said detectives investigating the death of Wesley Morris are continuing to question a 39-year-old man arrested in Shrewsbury.

The body of Mr Morris, who was 30, was discovered at his ground-floor flat in Lancaster Road, Harlescott, Shrewsbury, at about 1.45pm on Tuesday.

Detective Superintendent Paul Williamson, who is leading the inquiry, said investigations are ongoing at the flat and several other addresses in the town.

Thanking local people for supporting the investigation, the officer added: "I appreciate it has been a difficult time for the local community, especially for family and friends of Mr Morris.

"We are endeavouring to complete our inquiries as quickly as possible and would again thank local people for their support, especially those who have come forward with information.

"We have nearly completed our work at some locations but are likely to continue examinations at the scene for at least several more days."
