Police are appealing for witnesses to a fight which left a man suffering from gunshot and stab wounds in a Birmingham park.

Police attended Ward End Park at around 7.45pm on Sunday after they received several calls reporting a fight.

The found the injured man who is now in a critical but stable condition in hospital.

The scene is currently still cordoned off while forensic experts search for evidence.

DI Simon Vowles, who is leading the enquiry, said: "We know that there were a number of people who were at the park and who could have been witness to this assault. We would ask them to come forward as soon as possible.

"Any piece of information, no matter how small you think it could be, may be vital to our enquiries."
