A Midland businessman has been jailed for eight months after police found child abuse pictures among adult pornography he downloaded from the internet.

Father-of-one Peter Sant (40), a car dealer, of Bargate Street, of Brewood near Wolverhampton, pleaded guilty at Stafford Crown Court to 15 charges of making indecent images and one of possessing indecent images.

Ordering him to sign the Sex Offenders' Register for life and banning him from working with children, Judge John Warner said: "As long as people watch child pornography, people will go on producing it."

Richard Dewsbery, prosecuting, said Staffordshire Police seized Sant's computer in March 2005 after West Midlands detectives found his email address on another person's property.

"They discovered thousands of adult images but among them were 273 of children - some involved in sex and sadism," he said.
