A man has been airlifted to hospital following an accident at a building site in Staffordshire today.
The incident, on Wolverhampton Road, in Essington, near Wolverhampton, happened shortly before 8.55am on Wednesday morning.
A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokeswoman the man was injured when a number of roofing gables had toppled over.
He was treated at the scene for chest and back injuries. The specialist Hazard Area Response Team immobilised the man using specialist stretcher equipment, and lowered him to ground level from the roof using an on-site crane.
The injured man was airlifted to Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham for further assessment and treatment.
