A 63-year-old Warwickshire man whose wife's remains were found in Spain will appear in court charged with her murder.
Allen Heard, who emigrated to Valencia Province in July 2006 with his wife Patricia, is due before a judge at Warwick Crown Court for a preliminary hearing this morning.
Heard, originally from Bedworth, is being prosecuted for his wife's murder in England after Spanish police allowed their British counterparts primacy in the case.
The body of Mrs Heard, who was reported missing shortly after she arrived in Spain, was found three days ago in the Pego area, inland from the northern Costa Blanca.
Mr Heard, who also faces a count of perverting the course of justice, was charged with murder on August 4 after a joint investigation by British and Spanish police.
A Warwickshire Police spokesman said arrangements were currently being made to bring Mrs Heard's body back to Britain.
