One man has died and another has been taken to hospital after a crash in the Erdington area of Birmingham.

The incident happened at around 8.55pm on Tuesday evening on The Ridgeway. Two ambulances and an incident support officer were sent to the scene.

A West Midland Ambulance Service spokesman said: “Initial reports suggested that the car had been on fire. When crews arrived they found a white car on its side. It had collided with a garden wall, a street light and a sign as well as a second car.

“Unfortunately, a young man in the white car had suffered very serious injuries and it quickly became apparent that there was nothing that could be done to save him; he was confirmed dead at the scene.

“A second man was outside the vehicle when crews arrived, he was taken to Good Hope Hospital.

“The driver of other vehicle had minor injuries and was discharged at the scene.”
