A man is due to appear in court charged in connection with an incident in which a car plunged into a river in Evesham, leaving his five-year-old daughter dead.

Christopher Grady, whose daughter Gabrielle died in hospital three days after being freed from the submerged vehicle by police divers, will appear before a judge at Birmingham Crown Court on Thursday morning.

Gabrielle's six-year-old brother Ryan is said to be recovering well after being rescued from the River Avon by police officers.

Both Gabrielle, who was trapped underwater for almost two hours, and Ryan were airlifted to Birmingham's children's hospital last Thursday after the Vauxhall estate entered the river.

In a statement issued following Gabrielle's death, her mother, Kim Wise, paid tribute to her as "the cutest angel there has ever been".

Grady, of no fixed address, was remanded in custody at Worcester Magistrates Court on Saturday charged with two counts of attempted murder.
