A man has appeared in court accused of the murder of a 71-year-old man in West Bromwich.

Gordon Whitehouse appeared at Wolverhampton Magistrates' Court on Friday morning charged with the manslaughter of pensioner David Peniket at his home.

The 45-year-old, from West Bromwich, also faced charges of aggravated burglary and possession of an imitation firearm when he faced a committal to crown court hearing.

Mr Peniket died at his home on Bedford Road in West Bromwich on May 2.

Police continue to appeal for witnesses to come forward who may be able to help the investigation and urge anyone with information about the incident in Bedford Road to come forward and speak to detectives at Sandwell and Dudley CID based at Harborne Police Station on 0345 113 5000.
