A man has been charged with murdering a 32-year-old who died from head injuries in an incident which left another victim fighting for life, police said tonight.

The 27-year-old suspect, who will appear before magistrates tomorrow, has also been charged with attempted murder and two counts of having an offensive weapon in public, West Midlands Police said.

The charges were brought after a man, named by police as Nicholas Wallace, was found dead and another man, aged 63, was discovered with serious injuries at an address in Dart Street, Bordesley Green, Birmingham.

Police were called to the home in the early hours of Sunday.

The 63-year-old, who is from Bordesley Green, remains in a critical condition in hospital, a police spokesman said.
