A 42-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a road accident in Leamington Spa which left a pedestrian with serious leg injuries.

Warwickshire Police said the woman required a skin graft after being struck by a Audi Quattro, which left the scene of the collision in Regent Street late on Sunday.

Officers said the car drove off after the vehicle struck the 62-year-old woman, who was taken to the University Hospital in Coventry.

A police spokesman said a man later voluntarily attended Leamington Police Station and was bailed pending further police enquiries.
