A man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and another man is seriously ill in hospital after a stabbing in Balsall Heath.

Police and paramedics were called after a middle-aged man was found with serious stab wounds outside a house in Cromer Road.

He was taken to hospital where he is in a serious but stable condition.

A 44-year-old man from the area has now been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and is helping police with their inquiries.

Police sealed off the road after the incident which happened at about 5.40pm on Sunday.

Forensic officers have since been inspecting the scene for evidence.
