Firefighters battled for more than six hours yesterday to put out a fire which ripped through the Malvern Hills.
The fire, one of the largest in the area for several years, involved 6,000 square metres of undergrowth and was visible from the M5.
It broke out between Wyche Cutting and the Worcestershire Beacon. Worcestershire Fire Service received almost 200 calls about the fire from worried members of the public.
West Midlands Fire Service received three times the number of calls they would ordinarily receive at this time of year and the high volume of calls meant they were taking longer to answer.
