Birmingham motorists were hit with long tailbacks on the M6 after a car that had been involved in a crash caught fire.
It happened between junctions six and seven of the southbound carriageway at around 7.50am on Friday and forced the closure of one lane.
Three fire crews were sent to put out the blazing car. Its driver was treated at the scene by paramedics for minor injuries. No other injuries were reported.
A spokesman for the Central Motorways Police said: “A vehicle caught fire following a road traffic collision. We closed one of the lanes to clear away the debris and for the safety of emergency workers.”
