Louise Metcalf, aged 16 from Erdington, aims to become a holistic therapist and her results will help her achieve her ambition.

"I got A*s in English literature, history and geography. I haven't told my family yet but I think they will be very happy.

"I'm going to do a a BTech in health studies at Sutton Coldfield College in September."

Andrew Westwood is head boy at Stockfield Green. He obtained As in art and design, PE and maths and A*s in sciences.

"I didn't think I would pass in English literature but I did," she said. "I had to work harder at that then anything else, doing lots of extra studying at home.

"I'm going to study sports science and I'd like to become a football coach or physio."

Jennifer Allen was thrilled to learn she had achieved a B in maths after being predicted a U.

"I got As in sciences and As in English literature and PE. I feel ecstatic," she said. "My legs feel like jelly at the moment. I'm going on holiday to London today so I'll be celebrating there.

"I'm going on to do A levels and I'd like to become a podiatrist eventually."

Wajid Khan hopes his six GCSE passes will help him achieve his ambition to become a qualified mechanic.

"I got all the grades I need for college," he said. "I can't believe it, I expected low grades and I'm amazed I got six passes.

" In religious studies I expected a D or an E and I got a B. I'm a bit disappointed about English, I got a D and expected a C. But I'm happy."
