Liam Ridgewell scored a late header which secured Villa a 3-3 draw against Gais in their final match in their tour of Sweden.
Columbia international Juan Pablo Angel put Villa ahead with a rising shot in the 18th minute, and Villa's lead was doubled on 56 minutes when Ridgewell's header from a Nolberto Solano cross went in via a deflection off Gais defender Stefan Vennberg.
Gais quickly cut the deficit when Hans Blomqvist scored from the spot in the 62nd minute after a foul by Solano. Five minutes later the Swedes were level when a low shot by Blomqvist from the edge of the box evaded Thomas Sorensen.
Gais led a minute later when Brazilian Wilton Figueiredo dispossessed Villa captain Olof Mellberg before rifling the ball past Sorensen.
Gareth Barry was denied a headed equaliser eight minutes from the end by a brilliant save before Ridgewell headed home Ulises de la Cruz's rightwing cross.
