Church leaders are seeking a replacement for a vicar who was sacked for having an affair with a woman who went to him for counselling.
The Rev Dr Patrick Okechi was removed from office and prohibited from serving as a priest for ten years in December last year after being found guilty of “conduct unbecoming to the office and work of a clerk in Holy Orders”.
The father of three was taken to court last month for refusing to leave the vicarage of the Church of the Good Shepherd with St John, in West Bromwich.
But a ruling that forces the 48-year-old out of the property by the end of this month means parish bosses can promise potential new vicars a home. Their deadline for applications is today.
Their advert says they are looking for someone with “a real love of people of all ages and ethnicity,” and an ability “to make contact with the new community being developed around the Church”.
