A top Birmingham chef is preparing for an all-expenses paid dream holiday to India after scooping a major UK culinary title.
Muraliraj Narashimaraj, head chef at Lasan Indian restaurant in the Jewellery Quarter, has won the seventh annual South Asian Chef competition.
The prize includes a mouth-watering week-long stay for two people at the world famous Taj Mahal Palace Hotel in Mumbai, return flights and £1,000 spending money.
As well as lapping up luxury, Narashimaraj will also get to train with globally renowned chef Hemant Oberoi.
Hundreds of chefs entered the competition with the eight regional champions selected for a final cook-off at Leeds City College where they produced a range of dishes including a healthy eating option.
The competition was judged by respected figures in catering Andrew Green, Shyam Patiar and Stephen Gomes.
