Dear Editor, Councillor James Hutchings complains in your columns that he has been replaced in his position by a Labour councillor. (Post letters, July 26)

Did not the Conservatives do the same when they wrested power from Labour after 20 years leading the Council?

There is no point in replacing a person who is doing his job properly with an unknown quantity. To quote the best ungrammatical Americanism I know: “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.”
