KRS Men's First side have been confirmed Division One Champions of the Birmingham League following victories in the last two matches of the season, writes David Wilson.
The Handsworth-based side whitewashed Cocksmoors 9-0 and then completed a narrow 5-4 win over Broadway to claim their first title since promotion into the division ten years ago.
Warwickshire's Chris Tonks and Andrew Howard produced the match-winning performance with an unbeaten display, while Kenroy Harrison and Richard Doyle won two further games. Trevor Kernick and Steve Pemberton won two games for the losers.
Harrison, the club's founder member and captain of the side, said "It's been the club's ambition to win the men's top title ever since our promotion from 2A in 1995. It's a great achievement."
In Ladies Division One, Central continue to chase long time leaders Hotshots 1 after they thrashed Four Oaks firsts 5-1. Linzi Atkinson and Dee Perry produced an unbeaten performance for the Wednesbury-based side but it still might not be enough to overhaul the current champions.
Four Oaks First Mixed side defeated relegated Holy Trinity 6-3 but still have to face a tough end-of-season challenge from Hotshots 1.
Staffordshire's Andy Reaney and Kelly Sharman won all three games and Paul Cope and Karen Haywood won two further games to secure the points.
Hotshots' First Mixed side enjoyed a 9-0 whitewash over Arden in Division Two with Doug Woodhouse & Durrinda Fullerton, Jamal Uddin & Fiona McNaughton and Imran Basher & Tracy Baker, in impressive form.
