Kevin Phillips admitted that despite another comeback victory, Blues were left with somewhat mixed emotions.

The striker bagged a pair to edge Blues the game against Swansea City from 2-1 down, and apparently out, after a first-half when the hosts could have ran away with it.

Phillips conceded: "In all honesty, did we deserve to win the game? We'll take it, obviously, three points is so vital.

"After the first 45 minutes, we could have been four or five-one down. I thought Swansea played exceptionally well. What I saw, they are going to be there or thereabouts. They are a fantastic football team.

"Sitting watching it from the bench, at times Swansea just cut as apart. The boy up front could have had a hat-trick in a 10-15 minute spell.

"We lost a goal too early, which was poor from us. But know if we can keep it tight, we can exert control  and we showed in the second-half, as we have done lately, that when we up our game we're hard to play against."

"Swansea were so disappointed but that's football for you."

He added: "That never say die attitude is so big in this team, in this league. I don't think you can fault the spirit in this team all season. Everyone wants to beat Birmingham City. There's added pressure, especially when you come to hostile places like Swansea. It's difficult.

"But we showed what good character and spirit we have. We have done it two games on the spin now, this one and Charlton last week.

"We can play a lot better though. We are disappointed in that. But we got a result - that's what matters."

Phillips took his season's tally to eight goals with a header and a rasping 25-yarder, while Marcus Bent got off the mark with Blues first equaliser last night.

"I'm delighted for Benty, it's a big burden off his shoulders," said Phillips. "You put good delivery in the box - like for his goal and mine  - you're going to get goals.

"Faddy [James McFadden] put a fantastic ball in for me, I still had a bit to do, but I fancied it when it came over. The second one, I think it took a slight deflection, I'm not too sure.

"The lads fought back exceptionally well against a team I feel will be there or thereabouts, it was a great win for us."
