The Birmingham Post Corporate Golf Challenge celebrates its fifth year on May 14, as one of the most popular events on the business calendar.

Held once again this year at Blackwell Golf Club, The Birmingham Post will be challenging readers to wrest the trophy from last year's winners Wragge & Co.

The event will be an 18 holes stableford competition with the best two net scores to count on each hole, off a three-quarters handicap allowance. The maximum handicap permitted for men is 24 and for ladies 30. Proof of handicap may be required on the day.

Birmingham Post readers are invited to submit entries from companies, partnerships and recognised business organisations - soup and sandwiches are available from midday.

After a titanic struggle over 18 holes, contestants will return to the clubhouse for drinks on the terrace before a gala presentation dinner from 7.30pm.

A maximum of 20 teams will battle it out for the Birmingham Post Corporate Challenge Cup, a trophy which is competed for annually, with the four winning team members also taking home replicas of the trophy, plus four special prizes for the top team yet to be announced.

Birmingham Post editor Marc Reeves said: "Golf is a sport very dear to the hearts of many of our readers and we are pleased to acknowledge this with an event that is both competitive and fun.

"The Birmingham Post Corporate Golf Challenge is a great way of thanking clients and contacts, making new acquaintances and cementing long standing friendships.

"And Blackwell Golf Club, with its renowned restaurant and wine list, provides the perfect setting for corporate golf in a competitive environment."

Steeped in history, Blackwell Golf Club has hosted Regional Qualifying competitions for the Open on six occasions in the 1990s. The club was formed in 1893 and was extended from nine holes to 18 in 1923.

Entries for The Birmingham Post Corporate Golf Challenge will be accepted on a first come, first served basis and must be accompanied by a cheque for £395 plus VAT (£464.13) made payable to ASAP Ltd, and sent to ASAP Ltd, 1a High Street, Astwood Bank, Redditch, B96 6DB.
