John Lewis has announced Kim Lowe, a native of the Midlands, will be the manager of its new flagship Birmingham store.
Ms Lowe, who has worked for John Lewis for 30 years in a variety of customer-facing roles, will run the store which is currently under construction as part of the New Street station redevelopment and is scheduled to open its doors for business in autumn next year.
Ms Lowe started her career as a sales assistant in John Lewis Nottingham, working her way up through a number of operational roles to become head of branch at John Lewis Glasgow, where she has been for the last three years.
In 2007 she became an elected director of the John Lewis partnership board and has served on various committees including the Glasgow Economic Leadership Commission and as a director of the Glasgow Chamber of Commerce.
Maggie Porteous, director of selling, north and new format, said: “Kim is perfectly placed to ensure John Lewis Birmingham delivers the excellent standards and service that our customers expect.
“She brings a breadth of experience as a leader and a fantastic track record of managing external relationships to this exciting and demanding role and I wish her every success.”
Ms Lowe added: “I’m absolutely thrilled to be taking on this new challenge and look forward to establishing our regional flagship shop in the heart of the city centre and in the heart of the local community. This appointment brings me back to the Midlands where I was born and where most of my family still live.”
