Birmingham City's Norwegian tour ended with a heavy defeat in a match marred by a terrible injury suffered by a SK Brann player.

Slovenia international Fabian Cipot had to be stretchered off after a challenge by Marcos Painter.

A much-changed Blues line-up trailed by just one goal before half-time but conceded three after the break as the injury to Cipot seemed to drain them.

A Tom Hanne deflection gave Brann the lead in the 27th minute and Arve Walder found space in the box to score a second in the 53rd minute.

Dylan MacAllister curled in his side's third 13 minutes from time and left-back Erlend Hanstveit made it 4-0 in the 83rd minute.

There was disappointment before the start as Blues were unable to give a run-out to trialist Andre Bergdolmo after the player's agent was unable to arrange personal insurance.

Bergdolmo, a 33-year-old Norway international defender, enjoyed spells with Borussia Dortmund and Ajax. He has won 50 caps for his country, can play in any defensive position, and is a free agent.

Meanwhile, Robbie Blake, the new Leeds United striker, says he was not forced out of Blues and was given the option of remaining there.

Blake completed an £800,000 move to the Coca-Cola Championship club on a three-year deal - only six months after moving to St Andrew's from Burnley for £1.25 million.

The 29-year-old was given few opportunities to shine with Blues, scoring two goals in 13 appearances, most of which came as a substitute.

The lure of regular firstteam football proved crucial for Blake, who maintains that he made the decision to move.

"Obviously, the Premiership is the league you want to play in and Birmingham was a great club to play for," Blake said. "But I knew my chances would be limited there and I think the manager wants to bring someone else in.

"Steve Bruce was fine about things and said I could stay and fight for my place if I wanted and try to get in the team. But I was keen when Leeds showed an interest because it's a club that is gearing up for a return to the Premiership. I'm here now and very happy to get everything sorted."

Blake is confident that Leeds will be a top-six team next season, adding: "I think the play-offs would be the least the players are looking for. I hope we can start the season well and establish ourselves as early contenders."
