Refuse and recycling

As a consequence of possible industrial action by some council employees, there may be disruption to the collection of refuse and recycling on Wednesday 16 and Thursday 17 July. Any inconvenience is sincerely regretted by the council. Residents who have collections of refuse or recycling on Wednesday or Thursday are given the following advice:

If your regular collections are due to take place on either of those days, please leave your refuse with recycling boxes or green waste for collection, on the usual cycle. If collection doesn’t take place by the end of the day, every effort will be made to collect either on Friday or over the weekend.

As an alternative, your may take your refuse/recycling waste to one of the city’s five

Care services for adults and young people/children

A normal telephone service will be maintained, but there is a possibility of reduced services being available through some local offices.

Resources will be prioritised for people with ‘High Level Needs’, which may have an impact upon some services for ‘Low Level Needs’ - such as day services and homecare. Anyone affected by a cancellation will be informed about the change so alternative arrangements can be made where possible. Normal service will resume as quickly as possible after 24 April 2008.
