Warwickshire Police are appealing for information after a lorry driver was abducted and abandoned by a group of men who stole plasma televisions from his vehicle.

The 48-year-old lorry driver, who is from Birmingham, was turning his vehicle at the A14 roundabout junction with the A6 Wellingborough, in Northamptonshire, when a white Transit-type van forced it to stop by pulling in front of it.

Three males got out of the van and forced the lorry driver out of his cabin and into their vehicle before making off. The men also stole the lorry and its load of 54 x 42ins plasma television sets.

The van driver was abandoned on the M6 near Bedworth, Warwickshire, at about 11.30am on Saturday. He contacted police as soon as he was released.

The stolen blue and white articulated lorry was found, minus its load, in a layby on the B4113 close to Exhall, in Warwickshire.

Anyone who witnessed the robbery or abduction, or who may be offered plasma TVs for sale in unusual circumstances, are asked to call Corby Police on 01536 400400.
