Hotshots mixed side produced the performance of the week in Division One of The Birmingham League after beating the hitherto undefeated leaders, Broadway, 5-4.

Trevor Hampson with Worcestershire County player, Lorraine Cole produced the unbeaten display to secure the points for the Barnt Green-based side. Trevor and Linzi Kernick won two matches for the losers, who still are top of the division.

Birmingham University students returned to winning ways after the men's and ladies sides won a double headed encounter with KRS.

Richard Wrigley with Ivor Griffiths and Ben Witham with John Forde remained unbeaten in a 6-3 win over KRS men's side. The ladies won a narrow victory by 135-115 on points after the game was drawn at 3-3 and six games all. Kelly Mead ensured the students victory.

In Mixed Division Two, Poplar played three games and won two. Keith Fenwick and Alison Daws produced a clean sweep in their 7-2 win over Lighthall and Solihull & Shirley III. Justin Garnett and Sophia Yip won four games in the two matches.

However, they came unstuck against second placed Solihull & Shirley II when they were on the receiving end of a 6-3 defeat. Combinations of Andy Kitching with Carol Moran and Rob Forrester with Shelia Stones remained undefeated.

Holy Trinity's Mark Hatton and Sue Benton provided the inspiration for the Walsallbased side as they beat Solihull & Shirley III 5-4 also in Division Two.

In Ladies Division Two, Hotshots II whitewashed Cocks Moors 6-0.
