The Friends of Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery are to host a private tour of the Home of Metal exhibition, followed by a talk and discussion.

BMAG’s Tom Grosvenor will take visitors on a tour of the Gas Hall exhibition, showing previously unseen memorabilia plus iconic items such as Black Sabbath’s Mob Rules stage cross, original Judas Priest costumes and handwritten Napalm Death lyrics.

The talk, by research student Rob Horrocks, will be held at Edmunds Lounge Bar & Eatery. Rob, is using the Home of Metal as a case study for his research work on popular music heritage.  His talk will focus on how Heavy Metal began in Birmingham, its impact on the musical environment and the people involved.

The event takes place from 5.30pm-8pm on Tuesday, September 13. Tickets cost £7.50 for BMAG members, £10 for non-members, with the price including a glass of wine and light refreshment.

Tickets are available on 0121 464 3353 or you can email friends.of.bmag@googlemail.com for a booking form.
