A Warwickshire council has obtained high court injunctions preventing travellers from building caravan sites without planning permission at two locations.

Warwick District Council won an order stopping Gipsy families from building on green belt land at Kites Nest Lane, Beausale, near Kenilworth.

Council leaders took action to halt work on construction of a site for 13 permanent mobile home pitches and space for 13 touring caravans.

The families must wait now for the result of a planning application to be considered by the district council.

And in a separate case, the council succeeded in blocking development of a caravan site at Hampton-on-the-Hill, near Warwick.

Warwick District Council leader Michael Doody said: “The issuing of both injunctions demonstrates the seriousness with which not only the council but also the high court views substantial flagrant breaches of planning control such as these including, where there are sufficient grounds to take action, to seek to prevent them.”
