A police investigation was launched yesterday after a member of a hen party was found dead in her Alton Towers hotel room.
The woman, thought to be aged in her late 20s, was discovered at the Staffordshire theme park yesterday morning.
An Alton Towers spokeswoman said: "We can confirm that, very sadly, a guest passed away in the Alton Towers Hotel.
"Paramedics responded immediately but unfortunately were unable to do anything."
In accordance with the hotel's procedures, the police had been called and were now conducting their own investigation into the sudden death.
The spokeswoman said she had no indication as to the cause of death, but it is not thought to be suspicious.
"We understand that the guest concerned was at the hotel with friends for the weekend as part of a hen party, and our thoughts at this time are with her family and friends," the spokeswoman added.
