Walsall's 19- year- old defender Jonny Harkness yesterday signed a one-year professional deal, with the option of an extra year if he impresses.
The Irish youth international made his senior debut in the Saddlers' 3-0 home win against Stockport County last Saturday.
Able to operate at leftback or centre-half, he is determined to prove his worth after being released by Coventry City.
Harkness said: "Leaving Coventry was a bitter pill to swallow but I think that my overall game has improved since I have been here at Walsall. With my passing, workrate and determination, hopefully I can make a career out of playing football full-time."
Walsall midfielders Michael Standing and Simon Osborn have also agreed new one- year deals.
