Harborne's prolific scorer James Wright completed a hat-trick with an 80th minute golden goal to seal one of two West Midlands giant-killing feats in the third round of the Men's Cup.

Wright was the toast of the Coaching Solutions League club after netting a 16th minute opener and then the winner against National League Division One side Bowdon after the teams were level 4-4 at full time. Stuart Armstrong and Jeremy Baldock had assisted the Birmingham side to lead 3-2 at the interval.

Olton's captain Ian Armstrong was their hero as his 20th minute penalty stroke gave them a great 1-0 victory away to Brooklands MU, who are currently joint leaders of the National North Division.

Edgbaston were close to staging another major upset. They fought valiantly against National North Division Harrogate, losing 5-4 after two goals by Mark Wrinch and one apiece from Michael Brazier and Ashley Clarke.

Cup holders Cannock sauntered to a 14-1 defeat of Nottingham. Five of their goals came from Andy Brogdon who achieved a hat-trick in three minutes and then scored two in a minute late in the match.

Richard Lane (2), Hardeep Jawanda (2), Martin Jones, Matt Taylor, Ross Hayward and Andy Langlands (2) completed the scoring.

Birmingham University defeated Oxton 6-1 with goals from Ed Welch (2), James Carter, Stephen Edmonds,

Michael Farrer, and Nick Latham. Matt Ruxton, Chris Graham and Gary Town earned Bournville a 3-2 win against Firebrands but Barford Tigers lost 4-1 to Bath Buccaneers after Bakshinder Bhachu had put them ahead in the fourth minute.
