Former England team-mates Austin Healey and Will Greenwood are leading the search to find the next generation of rugby stars.

The broadcasters, who played together at club and international level, have launched a competition open to youngsters within a 30-mile radius of the Coventry area, which will see the winners run out at Twickenham.

The competition, for 7-16-year-olds, has been set up by the BGL Group and Super Skills Travel Ltd and also offers rugby clubs the opportunity of winning an exclusive coaching session by the England stars in April.

And the BGL Super Skills Rugby challenge will also give six youngsters from the winning club a chance to attend a national skills building session at Twickenham.

The winners will use the England changing rooms and get a tour of the stadium during what should be a memorable day out at RFU headquarters.

To be in the running, each club must enter a two-minute video on why it should be selected, with one sentence supporting their entry, via www.superskillstravel.com/bgl.

And Greenwood is looking forward to the process in the hope that he and Healey can unearth an unpolished diamond.

“We are really excited about this competition,” Greenwood said. “It’s great to get out and meet the budding stars of the future.

“There is so much potential at local rugby clubs and the aim of Super Skills is to unleash some of this in Coventry and hopefully set some new young stars on the road to success.”

For his part Healey has got his own ideas about what the competition might produce.

It’d be great to find the next Toby Flood or Ben Youngs – I’m not too bothered about forwards because no-one’s really interested in them!

“There is a lot of talent out there - in all positions - and we’d love to find it.”
